Magnificence

Zora Schemm

Poem

French fries

Time to yum it up

Yummy yummy yummy

You can eat ‘em everywhere

French fries with schnitzel

French fries with ketchup

French fries with mayo

Jam it cram it

Savor the flavor

Fill up the fry hole

Yummy French fries

We’re all just fries in a bowl

Red fries

White fries

Blue fries

Pink fries

RambaZamba fries

German fries

Shakespeare fries

Bertolt Brecht fries

The world is full of fries

Love love lost fries

Stomach acid

Gastric juice

It flows and flows and flows and flows

And flushes and flushes and flushes

The drain is clogged

It clogs and clogs and clogs

The pipe is plugged

Then the bubble bursts

The cork flees and flies

In our faces

Magnificence!

Magnificence!

Magnificence!

Magnificence!

Remarkable!

Remarkable!

Remarkable!

Zora Schemm, born in 1987 in Brazil, has been a member of the Berlin RambaZamba Theater acting ensemble since 2010. In the 2025/26 season she plays in Milan Peschel’s production of “Mord im Regionalexpress” (Murder on the Regional Express). She has also performed in various productions at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and in Florentina Holzinger’s “Ophelia’s Got Talent” in 2022 at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.

The poem by Zora Schlemm is from a collection of pieces entitled “Herrlichkeit 1 und 2” (Magnificence 1 and 2), which she developed in collaboration with her fellow actors Anil Merickan, Nele Winkler, Moritz Höhne and Franziska Kleinert as part of an inclusive writing workshop by the Deutsches Theater and RambaZamba Theater. The texts were performed as a workshop presentation at the Deutsches Theater during the ATT 2025 Festival.
