‘fünf zu eins’ (five to one) is a publication of the German Federal Cultural Foundation (Kulturstiftung des Bundes). Twice a year, we present five works of art and culture that address a question of contemporary relevance.

Asking questions is an essential part of our work at the Federal Cultural Foundation. It allows us to discover and better understand the issues that drive the art and cultural scene. This knowledge helps us create funding programmes that truly enable cultural institutions to further develop their artistic and thematic endeavours. Each issue of ‘fünf zu eins’ also focuses on a key question which we pose to people from various artistic and intellectual fields of work. We are interested in hearing their views and experiences on issues that are also on the top of our minds.
